Estimates, Not Answers
Every calculator on PayCalcFig is designed to give you a fast, reasonable estimate of your take-home pay, federal and state tax liability, or raise value. That is the whole point of the site — a quick number you can use for planning. But "estimate" is the key word here. The result you see on this site is not a final answer, and treating it as one could cost you money.
Why the Number Might Be Off
Your actual paycheck and tax bill are affected by a long list of variables that no free online calculator can perfectly model:
- Pre-tax benefits you elected (401k, HSA, FSA, life insurance, dental, vision)
- Post-tax deductions (Roth 401k, stock purchases through an ESPP, wage garnishments)
- Local city and county income taxes — we model the major ones, not every single municipality
- Your exact W-4 filing status and withholding elections
- State-specific credits and deductions that vary by year and by individual
- Self-employment income, investment gains, dividends, and other non-wage income
- Your eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and other credits
If your situation is straightforward — single, standard deduction, W-2 only, no itemized deductions — our calculator should get you within a few hundred dollars of the real number. If your situation is more complex, the number on this page is more of a starting point than a destination.
This Is Not Tax Advice
PayCalcFig is not a tax preparation service. We do not have an IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN). We are not registered with any state's board of tax preparers. The people who write and maintain the calculators are personal finance researchers, not licensed attorneys, CPAs, or Enrolled Agents.
Nothing on this site — including any calculator output, any article, any FAQ answer, and any methodology description — constitutes tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. If you are facing a real tax question, a career decision, or a money move that could have significant consequences, talk to a qualified professional before you act.
Accuracy and Timing
We update PayCalcFig's calculation logic every year when the IRS releases new tax brackets, standard deduction amounts, and withholding tables. We also track state-level changes as they are published. But there is always a gap between the moment a rule changes and the moment we can update the site. If you are reading this page in the middle of the year and a tax law has changed since our last update, the number on your screen will reflect the old rule, not the new one.
We do our best to catch mistakes before they go live, but we are human. If you find an error — a wrong FICA rate, a missing state, an outdated deduction — please email us athello@paycalcfig.com and we will fix it as quickly as we can.
No Liability for Your Decisions
You are entirely responsible for what you do with the information on PayCalcFig. We are not responsible if you accept a job offer based on a calculator estimate, file your taxes using a number you saw here, decline a raise because the tool predicted a lower take-home pay, or make any other decision — good or bad — based on anything on this site.
The site is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the site will always be available, error-free, or secure.
When to See a Professional
If any of the following apply to you, skip the free calculators and talk to a professional first:
- You have self-employment or gig income
- You own a business, rental property, or farm
- You have significant investment gains, losses, or passive income
- You are dealing with the IRS or a state tax authority
- You are filing in a state with complex or unusual tax rules
- You are making a major financial decision (home purchase, retirement, stock option exercise)
A good CPA or Enrolled Agent will cost you money, but they will save you much more in the long run. PayCalcFig is a free tool for quick estimates — not a replacement for professional advice.
